AACS (acetoacetyl-CoA synthetase) encodes an enzyme predicted to catalyze the formation of acetoacetyl-CoA from acetoacetate. AACS participates in cytosolic acetoacetate utilization and is predicted to contribute to metabolic regulation, including positive regulation of insulin secretion. It is therefore relevant to studies of ketone body metabolism and cellular metabolic signaling.
The U-2 OS cell line is a foundational human osteosarcoma model established in 1964 by J. Ponten and E. Saksela from a moderately differentiated osteogenic sarcoma of the tibia of a 15-year-old girl. Originally designated as 2T and referenced in image_2f37aa.png, this adherent epithelial-like model is documented to secrete osteosarcoma-derived growth factor (ODGF) and express functional insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) receptors, insulin-like growth factor-II/Mannose-6-phosphate (IGF-II/M6P) receptors, and IGF-II. Serving as a gold-standard in vitro platform, it is extensively utilized in biomedical research for studying bone oncology pathways, cellular response kinetics, and advanced transfection signaling mechanisms.
